English folk singer-songwriter John Smith is set to begin is Irish Tour this weekend, starting at the Electric Picnic festival on September 1st.
Smith is currently touring his third studio album Great Lakes. Beautifully organic and crafted the record also features collaboration with Irish songstress Lisa Hannigan on the stunning duet ‘Salty and Sweet’.
Speaking about his approach to the album, John Smith stated.
‘I looked at my last two records and realized there wasn’t that much there for people to dig into. I think it had been too dense, too inaccessible. Why not try something new?’
After his set at the Electric Picnic festival in Co. Laois this weekend, Smith will return to tour Ireland at the end of the month. Playing several live shows, including dates at Dublin’s Unitarian Church and De Barras in Cork with support from Ruari Joesph .
